Synthetic or regular is your choice. The important thing is to use an oil formulated for motorcycles. The amount of detergent and additives is very different than automobile oil. And do not use Harley oil in any bike other than a Harley or a Buell. Unlike other bikes Harleys have different lubricants for the engine, clutch, and transmission.
